Apply for membership

Anyone who fulfills the membership criterias and support the No Hate Speech Networks aim of “preventing and countering hate speech by mobilising and connecting individuals and organisations to act in support of human rights and democracy online and offline” may apply for membership to the network.

Please read the membership application proceedures and apply for the appropriate type of membership below (organisation or individual).

Before applying for membership you need to prepare a digital version of the following documents.

Individual membership
  1. CV
  2. Valid ID
Organisational membership
  1. Valid ID of contact person
  2. Statutes of your organisation in English
  3. Statutes of your organisation in your local language
  4. Registration certificate, an official written signed and stamped (scanned version) from the decision maker of the organization, network, non-formal group

Why become a member?

  • Members are the main decision makers of the network, only they can change statutes, decide on organisation strategy and vote in board members at the General Assembly.
  • We organise and partner up in events, projects conferences and working groups where you also can take part. 
  • The network receives invitations and opportunities for participation in international processes and activities that we share with our membership.
  • Become a part of the community of organisations and individuals fighting for human rights and against hate speech where you can network, share, support and be supported by fellow human rights activists. 
The statutes Article 10 states that members shall have the following rights.

● To apply/be nominated for any of the NHSN activities related to its aims;
● To enjoy all the advantages and benefits that might derive from the NHSN.
● To participate in the General Assembly with voice and vote.
● To vote at the General Assembly by proxy in accordance with internal regulations, rules and procedures.
● To be electors and eligible members to the Board.
● To receive information regarding the agreements adopted by the organs of the NHSN.
● To make suggestions to the members of the Board or in order to improve the accomplishment of NHSN aims.
● To undertake initiatives and actions within the NHSN

 

Membership application proceedures

  1. Send your request to become a member on the No Hate Speech Network by filling the Online Application Form. Remember you will need to attach a 

Individuals

  1. CV
  2. Valid ID

Organisations

  1. Valid ID of contact person
  2. Statutes of your organisation in English
  3. Statutes of your organisation in your local language
  4. Registration certificate, an official written signed and stamped (scanned version) from the decision maker of the organization, network, non-formal group

If you experience any issues in supplying these documents, please contact the board and we may try to find an alternative solution. 

  1. Your application will be reviewed by the Board and you will be notified of the decision within 4 weeks after the request has been submitted.
  2. Once your application has been approved by the Board, you will receive an email  with instructions for finalising your registration and payment details for your membership fee, which would need to be completed within 15 working days.  Together with the instructions you will receive all the internal documentation you need to know to be aware of your rights and duties as a member.
  3. In case your registration is not completed within 15 working days without a significant reason, your application is considered invalid, with a possibility of resubmission. The candidate shall notify the Board about any potential difficulties with completing the process via an email.
  4. Once your membership fee is processed, you will be welcomed to enjoy all the benefits of your membership while waiting for ratification in the following General Assembly. If you are an individual you will be automatically invited to the General Assembly;  If you are an organization, you will be invited to nominate a Delegate to attend the General Assembly.
  5. Ratification is adopted by the General Assembly, which can reject it and should provide motivated reasons. The eventual rights and obligations established after Board membership approval and before General Assembly rejection remain valid until the end of their effects.

Renew an existing membership

If you have applied for membership a previous year, submitted all documentation necessary and received an approval from the board, you can renew your membership.

Please make note that having being part of the No Hate Speech Movement does not automatically give you membership to the No Hate Speech Network. The Network is an independent association registered in the Netherlands.
